Totally Inspiring Room

Living room by Robert Passal in Trad Home.

Today I’m just throwing up this quickie post as I’m working all day. Today’s room was designed by Robert Passable and is from Lonny magazine’s collaboration with Traditional Home. A totally beautiful living room. Calm, serene, classic. Love it. See the whole article here.

Have a happy Tuesday, y’all!

Totally Inspiring Room

Pale, soft, serene… The living room of actress Keri Russell and her husband, Shane Deary, is all of those things. The room is part of a whole house renovation that saw the couple doing a lot of hands on work themselves. I think the ‘labor of love’ aspect shows through brilliantly. The overall vibe is one of easy, comforting elegance. Definitely a totally inspiring room!

On a side note: the overall look here reminds me strongly of Andrew Corrie and Harriet Maxwell-McDonald’s aesthetic at Ochre and Canvas and in their own home. The one difference is that the Russell/Deary house’s wood is a dark, rich color and the Corrie/Maxwell-McDonald look is usually pale, bleached or light woods and more aged metal. Very similar though.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! What’s inspiring you today?

The entry to Royce Pinkwater’s living room in New York. From House Beautiful September 2011 Splendid Sass.

The latest issue of House Beautiful had the most gorgeous apartment I’ve ever seen. I, quite literally, could see myself moving in and not changing one single thing in the place. From the moody entry to the airy minimalist bath, every room is perfect.

The eat in kitchen’s dining area with mid century chairs and amazing herringbone floors.

The thing that strikes me most about the apartment, which is owned by Sotheby’s Royce Pinkwater, is how utterly liveable it all looks. Nothing is too precious or overdone, everywhere you look there is an inviting place to sit or look. I absolutely love it! This is definitely going into my idea file for use on my own digs!

You can see more of this gorgeous NYC apartment on Splendid Sass (HB doesn’t have it up yet).

On a personal note: the change in season has my allergies doing the tango on my sinuses but I’m doing better than yesterday. I’m getting back in the saddle and riding forward! Have a great Tuesday everyone. :-)

Soft Touch

Its a soft, gray, rainy day here in Charlotte today. I was planning on putting these pics but the soft, muted colors seem especially appropriate given the melancholy Springs weather.

Here is a serving of rain washed colors for this not so sunny spring day:

Soft pinks, gray, and white dominate this set. (Sources: unknown, Domino, Elle Decor, unknown.)

Washed out bluish gray and Sterling rose lavenders create a moody ambience. (Sources: unknown, Domino, unknown, Champagne & Macarons blog.)

Have a great Friday and a (hopefully) sunnier weekend!

A Favorite Room

image

It is funny how, sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. This is a room that I clipped out of magazine a few years ago, back when I was still in my more modern, minimalist phase. Back then if it wasn’t black and white, I didn’t usually care… at that time, this was too much color for me but I couldn’t stop looking at it.

I realize now that it’s because even with all the color the room is clean, uncluttered, and lived in looking. A beautiful combination in my book. The beautiful harmony of colors, which I didn’t appreciate once upon a time, are wonderfully delicious icing.

Happy (super late!) Thursday!
