Fall Foliage

I love this pretty fall colored dress with an oversized Calla Lily border print from Anthropologie, $$178.

Technically, Calla Lilys aren’t foliage but they are one of my favorite flowers with their creamy, white, sculptural lines. I came across this amazing dress while flipping through the new Anthropologie catalog. I love the colors (SO fall/autumn) and the lovely drape. I think this would make a great dress for a cocktail party…

Until next time!

Summer Breezes

Indigo Shoal Asymmetric Dress at Anthropologie, $248.

I got an email from Anthropologie today with some previews of their offerings for summer. When I clicked the link this dress caught my eye. If I’m being entirely honest here, I’ve always been a sucker for deep indigo prints on white, no matter what it is (dresses, bedding, dishes…). So this is really floating my boat.

Happy Thursday!

The Drawing Board…

I’m terrible about projects sometimes… You’ll remember how a few weeks ago, I showed you the lamps I bought that I wanted to do the neon + neutral bottle wrap project on? Well, when I went to Lowes to pick up the masons line (neon yellow and pink nylon) and twine to do the project, I didn’t like it! So now, I’ve got to back to the drawing board on that lamp project. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it now. I definitely want to paint it because brown is not a color I’m fond of (even though the brown on my lamp is a dark, glossy chocolate brown and not at all ugly). Since I’m bankrupt for a solid idea for the lamp, I’ve decided to try and do some planning for the desk I bought a while back:

Craig’s List desk.

It needs serious work! At first I thought that I wanted to do a standard white or ivory paint job on it but after seeing this room by Kimberly Ayres design (thank God for Google image search, btw! I actually first saw this picture on a blog without a photo credit and it took me ages to figure out who designed the room).

The main inspiration for my CL desk find is this room by Kimberly Ayres Design.

High gloss mint would look great on my desk, don’t you think? I think it would look awesome. I’ve been gathering paint chips for the perfect shade of mint green. Today I started looking for drawer pulls because I don’t really like the original pulls. I found these at Anthropologie:

Sardinia Knob, $12 each at Anthropologie.com.

I’m hoping to find some decent sized unpolished square brass backplates for the knobs to sit on. I think that’d look nice on the flat edges of the drawers. I’ve also wanted to use some of the metallic fine papers from Paper Source to line the inside of drawers for a while… I’m thinking this marbled gold would look good:

Gold on Natural Marble Fine Paper, $6.50 per sheet at Paper Source.

Well, that’s my wish list for my desk project. I’m hoping to find some inspiration for the lamp project soon as I think I’d like to tackle the smaller project first. Any suggestions for my lamp?

A Spring Thing

Caslon Racerback Maxi Dress, $68 at Nordstroms, Resplendent Statement necklace, $28 at Threadsence, Tingo T-Strap sandals, $78 at Anthropologie

I shared my book find from the thrift store earlier this week but I went there to find black pants for work. I succeeded in my questioning for a pair of nice, inexpensive pants and discovered a brand I’d never heard of as well: Caslon. It is sold at Nordstroms (which explains why I haven’t heard of it, Nordies is out of my price range) and features some nice staple pieces.

Anyway, I decided to check out more about them online and discovered the maxi dress above. I thought it’d be cute with some little added punches of color. I think I’d also throw a yellow boyfriend blazer over it to dress it up a little (I couldn’t find a picture of one that I liked to share here).

So, that’s my attempt at fashion for the week! I truly hope I’m getting better at it. Until next time!

Blue/Berry Brights

Short sleeve featherweight cashmere cardigan – $178, patent leather belt, $36.50, and peep toe heels, $198 – J. Crew. Denim blouse, $98 – Anthropologie. Boyfriend jean, and Ikat clutch – Talbots. Silk/wool scarf – Intermix Online, $195.

I’m not really sure how good I am at the whole creating an outfit thing but I’m giving it another try today. I started out going for a completely different look and then I found that scarf… then the new J. Crew catalog with it’s scintillating selection of vibrantly hued cashmere got thrown in the mix. Anyway, I’d wear it… and isn’t that the important thing?

Have a happy Wednesday everyone! I’ll catch you tomorrow!

Lemony Goodness

Clockwise from top left: Threadsence necklace – $24, Old Navy plaid gauze shirt – $25, Anthropologie dress – $398, Anthropologie clutch – $100, Asos sandals – $600.

I haven’t always been a fan of the color yellow. In fact, at one point I was all about neutrals and all other colors be darned! Thankfully, I’m way more open to color now. Good thing too; there are some awesome products in some really amazing hues these days. This part lemony, part yolky bright yellow is adorning a lot of cool things from clothes to interiors. So yeah, I’m a bit obsessed with yellow right now. How about you? What colors are you craving?

Have a great weekend everyone, I’ll see you next time. 🙂

Neutrals + Lilac + Orange

Ralph Lauren Paints in (left to right): Palais Royal, Washboard, Oatmeal, Spring Violet, Bold Orange.

I was surfing around for something else (isn’t that the way it always is?) and discovered this lovely palette of black, gray, cream, lilac, and dark orange from The Pink Couch blog. The colors seem really fresh and current… even though the blogs author picked this palette two autumns ago! In the spirit of this awesome combination of colors, I’m sharing some of my fave rooms and pieces featuring these colors.

Second Row: Benson chair/Anthropologie, Flynn lamp/Arteriors, Hee tray coffee table/A+R, Azure Sofa/Crate&Barrel.

One of my favorite things about this scheme is that it is truly unique. You’re not going to find it everywhere like you might with classic combos like black and white, yellow and blue, etc. It would take a lot of thought and careful searching for just the right pieces to pull it off. I love that kind of challenge!

I hope you’ve got some color in your Monday everyone! Tomorrow is another totally inspiring room. 🙂

Best of the Week

The rundown for this week includes lots of goldy bling, vintage charm, and amazing art. I can’t remember what led me to all this great stuff but I know I owe a lot to blog surfing! Here are the best of the week:

Colorful art prints that range in size from small to huge (large print sizes would look amazing over a sofa) measuring in at over 45″!.

image

“Night Peonies Blue”, “Color Migration Black”, “Lucid”, and “Marilyn Monroses” prints – price varies by size, all @ CozaMia.

Here are some amazing and naughty (I’m looking at you Jonathan Adler!) accents for your home… and you.

image

Banana bud vase – $68 @ Jonathan Adler, Foo Dog lamps (left or right) – $199 @ Shades of Light, Ribbed cashmere & leather fingerless gloves – $98 @ Anthropologie, Handmade cloth extension cord – $38 @ Best Made Co.

There were many amazing things in the Dwell Studio Holiday 2011 catalog but the full two page spread of gold bling was my favorite part of the whole book.

image

Dwell Studio holiday catalog bling (as promised!): Slanted Votives in brass – $247.50/set, Tubular Burst Objet – $327.50, Orb Objet – $497.50, Gold Triangle Vases, $162.50 – $222.50, all @ Dwell Studio.

Early this week while I was looking over One King’s Lane, for the first time in ages, where I saw this cool, retro TV for the first time. This TV set, originally issued in the 1960’s, would be great for when space limitations kept you from being able to hide your TV. Doesn’t this look better than the blah boxes we have these days?

image

Panasonic Orbitel TV, price varies (about $500 – $1000). Try eBay or other online vintage retailers.

Have an excellent weekend, everyone. Monday has some cool palette inspiration! 🙂

Totally Inspiring Room

image

From an LA magazine called C. This room is so pretty with it’s lovely balance of light, dark, and rich textures. Plus, I have yet to see a room featuring Anthropologie’s Campaign bed that wasn’t improved by its presence. The suzani as coverlet, offset chandelier, and small gilt framed art are all nice touches. All in all, a completely inspiring room.

Happy Tuesday all!
