A totally inspiring living room designed by Betsy Burnham as seen in the June 2012 issue of House Beautiful.
I finally got to a couple of design mags I’ve had floating around the house and the feature on Betsy Burnhah’s design for a house in Beverly Hills really caught my eye. I love the mix of color, texture, and pattern that permeates every room of this home. It’s got both traditional and modern appeal… and I like it! Check out pics of the entire house at Burnham Design.
So here is yet another attempt at fashion… I think I did a better job this time. I’m kind of old school in that I think there is nothing inherently wrong with matching. So, lots of black to punch up the off white and coral combo. Btw, Zara… Wow! And Threadsence, Asos, and Topshop too!
This is the living room of English architect Richard Found and his wife, Jane Suitor. This room reminds me so strongly of my taste when I first started becoming interested in interiors and architecture (strict minimalism, neutral colors) but also features some elements that embody my style today (elegant chairs, classical figures, brass details, and luxurious carpets).
I like the modernist elegance of this room very much… and the André Arbus armchairs and the vintage cocktail table? Amazing!
I ended up at Architectural Digest early this morning, more or less on a fluke, and found a gallery of home offices. There were a couple of really beautiful examples of what can be done to make your home office gorgeous and functional… but my favorite was this simple, all white (go figure!) configuration of cabinets and open shelves. Fantastic! I love an all or predominantly white office. It feels like picking up a clean sheet of paper: ready for whatever you will bring to it.
