The View From Here

We had a gloriously beautiful weekend here in Seattle! I was able to get out and enjoy a bit of it. But part of it was spent inside IKEA helping customers… Still, I didn’t have to sacrifice all the sunny days to the big blue box. I’m so grateful that we got that sunny break in the weather, it meant a world of good for my sun loving soul.

I’ll admit that all my pics aren’t postcards worthy but you can at least get the gist of how gorgeous it was.

I also went down to the Des Moines marina to watch the sunset.

Beautiful, right? I totally enjoyed it! I hope, along with most of Seattle, I’m sure, that this means a really great summer ahead. It would be the nicest homecoming present to have my first summer back be as spectacular as these last few days were.

I hope your neck of the woods is as pleasant as mine has been lately and that all is well in your world! Until next time…

Pimp Your Patio

Yesterday I had a few minutes to spare while I waited for my sister after work. I walked around and checked the activities section at the end of the store (that’s where we put all the seasonal stuff) and textiles (only my favorite department in IKEA. It’s been about three months since I took a turn through the sections at any length and I figured by now there were some new things in… I wasn’t wrong! Here are some of the cool things I saw:

The Malin Lov pillow:

Malin Löv Cushion eclectic pillows

The colors in this pillow are just amazing! I’m going to be picking up two or three of them… I’ll figure out what I’m going to do with them later!

The Hogsten chair:

This chair is cute and compact and would look really nice (and fit nicely too) on an apartment patio. There is a matching stool as well.

Pekannot plant pots:

I like the whitewashed color and the texture reminds of grasscloth a little bit (which I LOVE). I really want a couple of these too. The smaller one is $25 and the larger one is $39.

Anyway, that’s it for me today. I hope you all are having a happy Thursday. I’ll catch you next time!

Sun In Shade

Walkway to Boeing from the commuter train in Renton, WA.

I woke up today and the sun was shining! Living in Seattle frequently means going without this natural source of vitamin D and I find myself yearning for the near constant sunshine (no matter the season) in Charlotte.

Still, I’m here in the Pacific Northwest and I’m trying to re-acclimate myself. This is my hometown after all. Days like today make me anxious for summer. I hope it is a good one: sunny, warm, and happy!

I hope you all are having an amazing Wednesday. I’ll catch you tomorrow!

PS I took the picture above while walking to work a while back… Didn’t get a chance to snap one today. 🙂

Totally Inspiring Room

image

Could a room be any room be sunnier looking than this ode to yellow? It’s a nice shot of happiness during this season of cold, gray, rainy and snowy weather. This is the kind of room that cheers the spirit no matter what the season.

Some standout points of interest for me: the hits of black throughout that keep the room grounded, little bits of shine, and the flame orange art on the far wall. The whole space looks comfortable, happy, and pulled together. It’s definitely a totally inspiring room!

On a side note: the office chair has a fresh coat of Krylon’s Satin Nickel spray paint on it’s frame. In a bit I’m going to head over to Walmart to get a staple gun so I can get the fabric on… hopefully today!
