Totally Inspiring Room

image

I saw this room while I was surfing Pinterest. I followed the links to La Dolce Vita’s blog where it was shown as part of the This Or That feature. The home office belongs to Lauren Gold of Nate Berkus Associates and was featured in the July/August issue of Lonny last summer. The whole apartment is amazing but this office just… Wow! Right?

I’m off to work now. I’m trying my hand at fashion tomorrow. You’ll have to let me know if I’m hopeless with that. 🙂 Have a happy Tuesday, everyone!

Victoria from sfgirlbybay pinned this picture yesterday on Pinterest and it struck a chord. I absolutely adore the floors in the foreground. My dream home will have black chevron/herringbone floors! The vintage globe, midcentury chairs, and and pink hallway are all nice touches too.

Have a great Tuesday everyone. 🙂

Living room by Robert Passal in Trad Home.

Today I’m just throwing up this quickie post as I’m working all day. Today’s room was designed by Robert Passable and is from Lonny magazine’s collaboration with Traditional Home. A totally beautiful living room. Calm, serene, classic. Love it. See the whole article here.

Have a happy Tuesday, y’all!

From an LA magazine called C. This room is so pretty with it’s lovely balance of light, dark, and rich textures. Plus, I have yet to see a room featuring Anthropologie’s Campaign bed that wasn’t improved by its presence. The suzani as coverlet, offset chandelier, and small gilt framed art are all nice touches. All in all, a completely inspiring room.

Happy Tuesday all!

From House and Home via Poppytalk

This scan is from the September 2011 issue of House & Home magazine (still not sure when or why the ‘Canadian’ part of the title went missing… but I digress). It’s from a weekend decorating article that gives some sweet ideas for taking your interiors up a notch with DIY projects.

The lovely bedroom above is the final page of the feature. The editors suggest “imperfect paint”. I just love the colors and textures. God help me if I’m ever able to find out who makes the fabric/duvet cover on the bed. Those painterly stripes are gorgeous. I really like the lamp to the left of the bed as well (another project from the article) and the Farrow & Ball paint in ‘Setting Plaster’. Plus, who wouldn’t want an ebonized book case with antique gilt edging and loads of vintages books on it as a headboard?

Happy Tuesday! I hope this inspires you as much as it did me!

Totally Inspiring Room (+Blog Love)

I love reading other people’s blogs, especially when the writer’s taste coincides with mine. Such is the case with Delight by Design. I found Blair Friedeman’s blog while (I kid you not!) going down the alphabetical blog links on Pink Wallpaper. I LOVE Delight by Design! Seriously, I didn’t get any further down the link list because I’ve spent the last two days going through all the previous entries. There is so much to inspire!

This is one of my favorite rooms from Blair’s blog:

Home library/office designed by Isabel Lopez Quesada. (June 2010 Nuevo Estilo)

Seriously, I think I swooned when I saw this! So many of the posts feature gorgeously decorated rooms that it is really hard to tear yourself away from it all. Please check out Blair’s magnificent blog and the designs of Spanish interior decorator Isabel Lopez Quesada. You wont be disappointed!

Have a happy Tuesday everyone!

Coffee and Books.

One of my private dreams (not so private anymore, eh?) is to open a small, elegant coffeehouse/reading room. Someplace comfortable and quiet that provides a great place to spend time with friends or to hang out with dear literary friends. (You know you’re on a first name basis with Lizzy, Emma, and Jane… Miss Eyre, I mean.)

If I had to pick the look I’d be going for in this dream space this would be it:

One of the many cozy lounge areas in the J.K. Place Hotels – via Lonny Magazine Oct/Nov 2010 (pg. 156).

I love the restraint here; everything is neutral, soothing, understated. The furniture looks soft and inviting, the decor is minimal, functional, and blends in with its surroundings. Even the lighting is low key!

Yeah, I’d probably have to copy this beautiful space wholesale for my dream cafe! What do you think? Could you see this look in a cafe or restaurant? How about your dining room? I’d love to know!

Totally Inspiring Room

So, I’m doing another inspiration room this week! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share this gem of kitchen with you:

image

Lindsay Reid’s Pasadena cottage kitchen from the June 2011 issue of House Beautiful.

This room is so elegant and simple. I love the dark gray cabinets, the coolly linear backsplash, the warmth of the textiles on the window and window seat… and the complete lack of upper cabinets. I’ve seen some really beautiful kitchens but I think this one is definitely vying for first place on my list of favorites.

What do you think of this kitchen? Love it or hate it?

Totally Inspiring Room

Whew! It is sweltering this Tuesday in the CLT. It feels like it’s in the 90’s… at least. Here’s a fresh, cool breeze of inspiration for you:

via Lonny Magazine

This beautiful room is from the latest issue of Lonny Magazine. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with the handpainted chinoiserie wallpaper by Gracie that fills the back wall of the room. Other swank elements include: a leather covered card table scored from auction house Christie’s, bamboo style chairs, tan on white zebra striped fabric, and a pretty pale blue ceramic candlestick lamp on a leggy console. I could SO live here!

Hope you’re having a great ( and significantly cooler) Tuesday. 🙂
