Trying New Things

image

My sis got these chairs as freebies from her neighbor and she wants me to help her fix them up. Check out her post here:

Trying New Things.

I ran fabric paint by her:

And reupholstering with budget upholstery fabrics from IKEA:

Rosmarie at IKEA

Benzy Skepp at Ikea.

Premier Fabrics:

Newell in Stone/Denton at Premier Fabrics.

Barber in Stone/Denton at Premier Fabrics.

Or using Joann’s 40% off coupons to get some cool looking pleather:

Eaton Square Adrift at Joann’s.

Here’s another view of this style of chair (by complete coincidence, I pinned the exact chairs from a Craigslist ad a few months ago on Pinterest).

On my CL Treasure Hunt board on Pinterest.

I’m going to meet up with her on Friday to take a closer look at them (so far, I’ve only seen pics). I’m so excited! What would you do with these chairs?

Neutrals + Lilac + Orange

Ralph Lauren Paints in (left to right): Palais Royal, Washboard, Oatmeal, Spring Violet, Bold Orange.

I was surfing around for something else (isn’t that the way it always is?) and discovered this lovely palette of black, gray, cream, lilac, and dark orange from The Pink Couch blog. The colors seem really fresh and current… even though the blogs author picked this palette two autumns ago! In the spirit of this awesome combination of colors, I’m sharing some of my fave rooms and pieces featuring these colors.

Top Row: Calluna Vase/Crate&Barrel, DIY chairs/BHG, Close rug/Christopher Farr, Tod Table/Zanotta.
Second Row: Benson chair/Anthropologie, Flynn lamp/Arteriors, Hee tray coffee table/A+R, Azure Sofa/Crate&Barrel.
Third Row: Hard Candy in Tangerine/Brentano Fabrics, office chair/Windsor Smith, DIY Le French dresser/Wary Meyers, Amethyst Marbled fabric/Domesticate.
Bottom Row: Drop stool/Zuo Modern, Watercolor Drops fabric/Domesticate, Purple & Black boxes/A Lille Shop, Slim Round end table/Room&Board.

One of my favorite things about this scheme is that it is truly unique. You’re not going to find it everywhere like you might with classic combos like black and white, yellow and blue, etc. It would take a lot of thought and careful searching for just the right pieces to pull it off. I love that kind of challenge!

I hope you’ve got some color in your Monday everyone! Tomorrow is another totally inspiring room. 🙂

Sunset’s Curb Alert!

This before and after was a curb alert disaster when it was found by Sunset Magazine. Read about how they turned this vanity from scrap to slick.

On one of my many wishlist surfs across the internet, I found this cheery yellow settee at Urban Outfitters. I thought, “That color is so fun, two is better than one!”. I don’t think I meant to rhyme… Of course, I started planning a room around them. Imagine two of these charming two-seaters facing each other across Blu Dot’s iconic table and you’ll see where I’m going with this! Fill in the details with:

Nelson Swag Leg chairs/Grey – Room and Board
