Showin’ The Love

My blog buddy Michelle over at Sweet Suite 10 sent me the loveliest compliment by including me in her Liebster Award nominees. What are the Liebster Awards? Well, it seems it is a way for small blogs (less than 200 followers) to help spread the word about each other. When you are nominated, you pick five and keep paying it forward. I’m a wreck when it comes to stuff like this so it took me a while to get up to speed on it… But it was so nice for someone to think of me… So, big thanks to Michelle!

What’s up:

Choose five up-and-coming blogs (with fewer than 200 followers) to award the Liebster to.

Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites.

Leave comments on their blogs so they know about the award.
Share five random facts about yourself.

Here are my nominees:

Michelle at Sweet Suite 10

Kim Davies at Inspired Lines

Erin at Clementine & Olive

Andrea Henderson at SpaceSays

The mysterious sisters at Pomp & Circumstance

As Michelle stated in her post, please forgive me if I underestimated anyone’s readership. I think all the above blogs are fabulous and worth reading/following in any case. I hope you’ll check them out!

Uh… Five random facts about me:

I recently discovered that I like dogs and am slowly but surely losing my fear of them.

My favorite designers are Thomas O’Brien and Kelly Wearstler – total opposite ends of the design spectrum. I love a mix of glamor and more down to earth style.

I’d refurbish every old thing in the world that was worth saving if I could – everything (and everyone) deserves a second chance.

I never learned how to drive. Which is, on occasion, terribly inconvenient. It’s also very cost efficient. 😉

Painter’s tape is one of my favorite DIY tools. It’s fun to play with!

Well, I that’s it for me this Monday! I’m off to go lend a hand at the big blue box. Until tomorrow, all!

Love List

Here are some of the things I totally loved this week:

image

Penguin Classics has reissued books by F. Scott Fitzgerald with the snazzy, jazz age inspired covers designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. I found out about them by reading the SpaceSays blog. There are six in all; you can find them on amazon.co.uk.

I was introduced to Help Remedies by Moo Cards. Their philosophy is to make taking medicine as simple and uncomplicated as possible. To that end they offer medications for common problems in straightforward, biodegradable packaging, each with only one active ingredient, and with short easy to read text explaining what you’d take it for. Right now they have about 7 products and a portion of every sale goes to charities for children in need of medical care.

Speaking of Moo… They are an awesome outfit that gives anyone the tools they need to brand themselves with business cards, postcards, stickers, and labels. Their printing service offers something they call Printfinity, which allows the user to have a different image or design on each card in the order. Too add value to the easy to customize products they offer is the fact that it’s super inexpensive – prices start at $19.99/100 cards (shipping is extra… but reasonable). Bonus points for checking out how this crafter uses Moo to distinguish her brand.

Also, I’ve become more active on Pinterest. I’ve been signed on for a while but I’ve never really used it because of the whole Android phone as computer thing I’ve had going on for the last year or so. I recently found a third party app that lets me upload pics to my boards, so I’m having lots of fun with that!

I think I figures out part of the trouble with my images. So finally, a complete post for you… years later. Hopefully, it’ll be a long time before I have this kind of issue again. See you Monday with a new media review. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Best of the Week

What a week! I’ve feel like a whole year has passed. Really, it’s just a lot of life happening all at once. That’s life though, right? The ups, the downs, and everything in between. As the young Indian hotel clerk says in the trail for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: “Everything will work out in the end. If it hasn’t worked out, it’s not the end.”

I was really inspired by this great mood board from fellow Charlotte design blogger, Andrea. She is a designer and DIYer who moved here recently, like me. Check out her cool projects and inspiration on her blog, SpaceSays.

Caitlin Wilson Textiles.

Surfing through some links on Laura Casey Interiors, I discovered this link to Caitlin Wilson Textiles. I’d never heard of this star design blogger but I was delighted to discover her new line of textiles! They are so beautiful and the blue, pink, and linen colored chinoiserie inspired floral gave me ideas for a great living room scheme. A complete set of swatches is available for $20 and comes prettily packaged in a beautiful pink box.

I finished my lamps here, read the YA bestseller The Hunger Games, and tested out a new Android app called Eggdrop with much success.

I also want to take a moment to say something about SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act. This is a bill that will effect every blogger out there. See this great post about what the bill means for you and me. Sign a petition, call your reps, and get the word out to your readers and fellow bloggers! This is OUR internet.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone! See you next week!
