Totally Inspiring Room

image

This room is a little more formal than I usually like but something about it does it for me. Maybe it’s the balance of casual elegance and formality or how the white walls and black floors provide a blank canvas for everything in the room. Whatever it is, it works.

Coffee and Books.

One of my private dreams (not so private anymore, eh?) is to open a small, elegant coffeehouse/reading room. Someplace comfortable and quiet that provides a great place to spend time with friends or to hang out with dear literary friends. (You know you’re on a first name basis with Lizzy, Emma, and Jane… Miss Eyre, I mean.)

If I had to pick the look I’d be going for in this dream space this would be it:

One of the many cozy lounge areas in the J.K. Place Hotels – via Lonny Magazine Oct/Nov 2010 (pg. 156).

I love the restraint here; everything is neutral, soothing, understated. The furniture looks soft and inviting, the decor is minimal, functional, and blends in with its surroundings. Even the lighting is low key!

Yeah, I’d probably have to copy this beautiful space wholesale for my dream cafe! What do you think? Could you see this look in a cafe or restaurant? How about your dining room? I’d love to know!

Totally Inspiring Room

Happy Monday everyone! Today is sort of gloomy and cool in Charlotte… I’m not complaining though! It is definitely a nice change of pace from the hot, humid, stormy weather we’ve been having. Plus, I’m feeling super energized and content after this weekend.

Totally inspiring kitchen by Thom Filicia via cococozy.

I’d like to share a room with you today that exemplifies sunny, sun drenched, casual elegance. I have seen it around on a couple of other blogs but just found out (last night!) that the room was designed by Thom Filicia. No wonder it looks so effortlessly cool. I’ve seen a lot of kitchen designs but this one is spot on perfect to me: clean, white, warm, filled with personal items yet uncluttered. That’s totally inspiring!

I hope you enjoy it and your Monday!

Totally Inspiring Room (and Blog)

Last might I decided to go hunting for French style interiors that were primarily green… Yeah, that was a “good luck with that” kind of a search! I will definitely have to keep looking for French greens…

But while I was hunting around I found a blog called Plum Sienna written by Annie, who has an obsession with wallpaper, wall finishes, and aged elegance. Her blog is full of absolutely gorgeous finishing techniques for walls – plaster, lime, gilding,  lacquer… you name it, it’s probably there. The photos are gorgeous and she often gives you a really solid but simple overview of how these techniques work. Please check out her current and previous blogs (there are total gems on both sites): Plum Sienna and Rose & Lis.

Today’s inspiration room is from Plum Sienna and has the most exquisite color combination I’ve ever seen. I’m totally in love! The color of the artwork? Get out!

I hope your week is going well and Thursday finds you safe and sound (especially after all the tornado and storm warnings throughout the southeast).

Here’s a look at some pink interiors. The latest issue of House Beautiful is all about this versatile color and features a plethora of options for using it in your home. It totally inspired me to be on the lookout for beautiful pink rooms… Here are some that I found while browsing last night. Enjoy!
